Similarly, J Jeolin also moved the court, seeking a direction to the authorities to rescue the petitioner’s brother, J Judelin, who is working as a fisherman in Iran. The petitioners stated that the fishermen are stranded in Iran and sought to bring them back to India safely.
The Centre submitted that, with regard to evacuation, it was beyond the hands of the authorities as Iran closed its ports and airports for ingress and egress. The embassy will provide the best possible assistance to Indians. Helpline numbers and email IDs are circulated.
Taking into account the submissions, justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy directed the petitioners to avail the assistance provided by the Indian Embassy in Iran by forwarding the necessary details. The petitions were disposed of.”
