Madras HC issues notice to Centre, Pondy govt over imposition of total lockdown in UT : Sugumaran
Puducherry, Sep 9(UNI) Federation for People’s Rights (FPR) Secretary G Sugumaran on Wedneday said that the Madras High Court has issued notices to the Union Government and Puducherry government to reply within six weeks on a plea pertaining to imposition of total lockdown in the Union Territory to check the spread of Coronavirus Disease.
In a statement here, he said that he along with former Karikalampakkam Councillor Jaganathan had moved the High Court seeking an order to impose total lockdown in the UT as COVID 19 is fast spreading and the government had failed to contain the spread of pandemic.
They also pleaded that the Central and state governments should jointly evolve a strategy to check the spread of the virus and food items worth Rs 5000 be provided to each family during the total lock down period.Please log in to get detailed
