The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Thursday directed the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) to take action against Madurai Corporation as per Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, for the pollution of Kiruthumal river. The court was hearing a public interest litigation petition that had sought a direction to the authorities to restore Kiruthumal river.
