Today, Sadhgurus Personality Rights case was listed before Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora of the Delhi High Court.

Senior Counsel Sai Krishna appeared for Sadhguru and Isha Foundation and argued that the advertisements showing fake arrest of Sadhguru were being hosted on YouTube despite there being an order protecting Sadhguru’s personality rights from fake or AI generated or misleading content. He argued that Google has a policy against publishing clickbait advertisements using negative life event like arrest , death etc and it was not following the same and also that as per the Intermediary rules, once there was an order for removal of content,google had the obligation to use automated tools to make sure such content is not published again.

Google contended that it was only a platform and can only remove such content if any links were provided to it.

Court opined that publishing such advertisements showing fake arrest of Sadhguru should be stopped. Court directed Google and the plaintiff to meet and jointly discuss the issue and arrive at a solution so that Plaintiff need not repeatedly reach out for removal of such content. Court ordered Google to provide a technological solution for the issue and if it is unable to come up with a technological solution then to file an affidavit in court detailing the reasons as to why there cannot be a technological solution for the issue.
