Sub: Law Officers – Appointment of Law Officers for the subordinate courts in Tamil Nadu on tenure basis Proposals called for – Regarding.

I am directed to inform that as per Standing Order issued in the reference first cited, Law Officers are being appointed in the Courts subordinate to the High Court (both in civil and criminal side) on tenure basis for a period of three years based on the recommendation of the District Collectors concerned.
2. In the reference second cited, the Government have issued certain guidelines to be followed by the District Collectors, while sending proposal to Government for appointment of Law Officers for vacant posts at various Courts in the Districts.
3. In the references third and fourth cited, the Government have extended the tenure of the existing Law Officers appointed during the years 2021-2026, in all the subordinate courts in Tamil Nadu, upto 30.06.2026. As the extended tenure is set to expire, it has become necessary to appoint new Law Officers for the Subordinate Courts in Districts on tenure basis.

4. I am, therefore, to request you to send a panel of Advocates, with the Applications containing Bio-data along with the report of the Principal District Judge and the Superintendent of Police of the District concerned, by following the guidelines issued in Government letter second cited, for appointment of Law Officers for the Subordinate Courts in the Districts on tenure basis for a period of three years, as per the provisions contained in Section 18 (3), (4) and (5) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and Government Standing Order issued in the reference first cited.
5. This may be treated as “Most Immediate”.
