Eligibility criteria for Contestants in Election
As per the Bye-Law of MMBA, the eligibility criteria for the candidates contesting in the election have been fixed as follows:
i) a) President The contestant should be a Full member having Bar experience of not less than twenty years (20) and should have been a member of MMBA for not less than (5) five years.
b) Vice President The contestant should be a Full Member having Bar experience of not less than fifteen years (15) and should have been a member of MMBA for not less than (5) five years.
c) General Secretary The contestant should be a Full Member having Bar experience of not less than ten (10) years and should
have been a member of MMBA for not less than (5) five years.

d) Treasurer The contestant should be a Full Member having Bar experience of not less than ten years (10) and should have been member of MMBA for not less than five (5) years.
e) Librarian The contestant should be a Full Member having Bar experience of not less than ten years (10) and should have been a member of MMBA for not less than five (5) years.
j) Convenor • The contestant should be a member having Bar experience of not less than eight years (8) and should have been member of MMBA for not less than five (5) years.
g) UQint-Secr-etgzu • The contestant should be a Member having bar
experience of not less than eight years (8) and should have been member of MMBA for not less than five (5) years.

h) Executive Committee: The contestant should be a member having a Bar experience of not less than Three years (3) and should be a member ofMMBA of not less than One (1) year
Note : * 1. Of the 15 Office Bearers, 6 should be female members in view of Orders of Hon’bZe Supreme Court dated 24.03.2025 & 16.01.2026 in SLP (C) No. 1404/2025
2. The above said criteria witt not applicable for the post reserved for woman
The name of the members approved in the voters list published by the Bar Council of Tamilnadu and Puducherry shall alone eligible to vote.
iii) Members who have paid the full Subscription on or before 30.03.2026 alone are eligible to contest and vote.
iv) Members who are in arrears of subscription as on 31.03.2026 are not eligible to contest and vote.
v) Members are requested to submit the Certificate of Practice, Declaration Forms to Bar Council of Tamilnadu and Puducherry before 30.03.2026 enabling the Bar Council to verify the same.
vi) The members who have submitted the Certificate of Practice, Declaration Forms choosing MMBA as the Bar Association for voting alone are eligible to contest and vote in MMBA election.
vii) Members who have already submitted their Certificate of Practice, Declaration Forms choosing MMBA for voting need not submit the Form again.
viii) Members who have chosen any other Association earlier to vote can change the choice now by submitting an Affidavit to that effect to the Bar Council of Tamilnadu & Puducherry on or before 01.04.2026.
ix) Only those who are eligible to vote in the election to MMBA can contest in the MMBA election.
x) The eligible voters list will be sent to the Bar Council of Tamilnadu and
Puducherry and after verification of the Certificates of Practice, Bar Council of Tamilnadu and Puducher the Final Voters List and

such persons, who have no arrears of subscription, alone will be eligible to vote and contest in election.
xi) Final list of voters will be notified on 06.04.2026 (Monday) and copies will be supplied on payment of charges.
Distribution, circulation or display of bitts, pamphlets, banners, posters for canvassing are strictly prohibited
