  1. [17/03, 10:45] sekarreporter1: To
Hon’ble Chief Justice of Madras High Court,
    Madras High Court.

    Hon’ble Lordship,

The Department of Legal Affairs Notary Cell vide their order dated 12.03.2026 had appointed 3416 Advocates as Notary Public for the Tamilnadu State and had also published a Notification that they have been provisionally selected. All the selected Advocates were required to submit documents listed in the Notice dated 12.03.2026. One such document is an Affidavit duly sworn by the Advocate and duly attested by the 1st Class Magistrate . Only after submission of all the documents in the Notary Portal, the provisionally selected Notaries will be available on the Notary Portal.

However the 1st Class Magistrates within the Metropolitan City of Chennai are not attesting the same and therefore the Advocates who are all practicing at Chennai are not able to obtain an attestation from the 1st Class Magistrate and complete Registration formalities in the Notary Portal.

By placing this issue before your Lordship, we sincerely hope that the grievances of the Advocates will be taken into consideration and suitably resolved

    Yours faithfully,

    (G.MOHANAKRISHNAN)
    Ex-PRESIDENT
    MADRAS HIGHCOURT ADVOCATES ASSOCIATION.
