The Madras High Court has cancelled the bail granted to 12 people arrested in the Armstrong murder case.

14 பேருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட ஜாமீனை ரத்து செய்ய வேண்டுமென காவல்துறை சார்பில் சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் மனுத்தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டது. இதே கோரிக்கையுடன் ஆம்ஸ்ட்ராங் மனைவி பொற்கொடியும் மனுத்தாக்கல் செய்திருந்தார்.

இந்த வழக்குகள் மீதான விசாரணை நீதிபதி கே.ராஜசேகர் முன்பு நடைபெற்றது. இந்த வழக்கில் உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்த நீதிபதி, 14 பேரில் அஞ்சலை மற்றும் பொற்கொடி தவிர்த்து 12 பேரின் ஜாமீனை ரத்து செய்து உத்தரவிட்டார்.

ஜாமீன் ரத்து செய்யப்பட்ட அஸ்வத்தாமன், ஹரிஹரன், பிரதீப் உள்ளிட்டோர் மார்ச் ஆறாம் தேதி சென்னை முதன்மை அமர்வு நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜராக வேண்டுமெனவும் நீதிபதி உத்தரவிட்டார்.

Armstrong, who was the state president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, was hacked to death in 2024. The High Court had earlier transferred the investigation to the CBI, but the Chennai Principal Sessions Court had given bail to 14 arrested persons, including Ashwathaman and Anjali.

Police filed a petition in the High Court seeking cancellation of that bail, and Armstrong’s wife Porkodi filed a similar plea. Justice K. Rajasekar heard the matter and ordered cancellation of bail for 12 of the 14 people, excluding Anjali and Porkodi.

He also directed those 12—Ashwathaman, Hariharan, Pradeep and others—to appear before the Chennai Principal Sessions Court on March 6.
