State pp Hasan Mohamad Ginna excellent speech in bar council function
[25/07, 07:54] Sekarreporter:
[25/07, 07:55] Sekarreporter: First of all, I thank Mr. Amal raj for extending me an opportunity to felicitate the Hon’ble Chief Justice.
I have had the privilege of meeting Your Lordship in Chambers, where you fondly recalled the memorable trip to Tamil Nadu with Madam—following your visit to Kerala as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan. On that occasion, when Madam expressed her wish to visit Rameshwaram, Your Lordship graciously assured her that a trip to Tamil Nadu would indeed be planned.
Naturally, who among us can say “No” to a wish that too from one’s wife? (Does anyone here dare to differ?)
Your Lordship shared this anecdote with warmth and nostalgia, and with visible joy and deep fulfillment. Your Lordship noted how extraordinary it felt to return to Tamil Nadu—not merely as a visitor, but as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. It was clearly a moment close to your heart, spoken with pride and sincere gratitude—as though you considered yourself truly fortunate.
But if Your Lordship feels fortunate, then—with utmost humility—I beg to differ. We are the ones more fortunate. I do not say this out of formality or to offer praise alone, but because your words compel me to say so.
Your Lordship’s reply to the welcome address was rich with insight. The following lines, in particular, deeply inspired me:
“This Court is not merely a forearm of law, but a sanctuary of fairness—where the voice of the unheard is amplified, and the burden of the vulnerable is shared.”
Your emphasis on accessible and dignified justice echoes the vision of the present Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, who often reminds us that the judiciary must not only interpret the law, but must also connect with the people—with empathy and with accountability.
As Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Mr Justice B.R. Gavai observed:
“A judge may speak through judgments, but justice speaks through trust.”
Your Lordship has already earned that trust. Today, we do not merely felicitate a new Chief Justice; we welcome a thoughtful jurist, a compassionate leader, and a gracious human being.
Once again, we reiterate—with genuine pride—that it is we who are lucky to have Your Lordship as our Chief Justice.
Thank you all.
