The Hon’ble Mr. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Senior most Judge of Supreme Court of India/ Hon’ble Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) had directed to hold National Lok Adalats on 12.03.2022, on 14.05.2022, on 13.08.2022, on 12.11.2022 this year. Today, (12.03.2022) National Lok Adalats were held on all subjects matters across the State.
As per the guidance of His Lordship/Hon’ble Mr. Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari, the Chief Justice, High Court, Madras/Patron-in-Chief of TNSLSA and as ordered by His Lordship/Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. Duraiswamy, Senior most Judge, High Court, Madras/Executive Chairman of TNSLSA had directed all the Legal Services Institutions across the State to hold National Lok Adalat today i.e 12.03.2022 (Saturday) in all the Courts in the State of Tamil Nadu.
As per the directions of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Paresh Upadhyay, Judge, High Court of Madras/Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee has constituted 4 benches at the Principal Seat of High Court, Madras consisting of Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.Malaisubramanian, Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. Thanikachalam, Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. Jayapaul, Hon’ble Mr. Justice B. Gokuldass, Retired Judges of High Court, Madras and at Madurai Bench, 4 benches constituted consisting of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice R. Tharani, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice S. Ananthi, Hon’ble Ms. Justice R.N. Manjula and Hon’ble Mr. Justice AR. Ramalingam, Hon’ble Judges of High Court, Madras as Presiding Officers of Lok Adalat.
In all the District Legal Services Authorities and Taluk Legal Services Committees across the State 419 benches were constituted and cases disposed off as detailed below. as at 5.30 P.M.

Major Cases and award amount:
1. Cheque dishonoured cases numbering 2,004 have been settled among the parties by negotiation and the award for the value of Rs. 49,97,23,381/- have been distributed.
2. Motor Accident Compensation cases numbering 3,157 with regard to accident claims have been settled and the award amount of Rs. 144,85,25,246/- has been distributed to the parties.
3. Civil cases numbering 7,301 have been settled among the parties for the award amount of Rs. 33,60,32,130/-
4. In Matrimonial disputes (except divorce), parties were called for negotiation and 106 cases have been amicably settled.
5. Labour disputes numbering 20 cases have been setled and the award amount of Rs.71,50,900/- have distributed to the parties.
6. 531 number of cases of 5 years and above old cases have also been settled.
