Pugazhendhi was retired long back and the Government has given him extension of service for four years. The above extension is unprecedented and prevented the promotion of several other persons. Further as per the Municipal Service Rules, a person working in Chennai Corporation cannot be deputed to Commissionerate of Municipal Administration as Chief Engineer. Moreover, a Chief Engineer in Commissionerate cannot be deputed to Chennai Corporation. Even the extension of service given to Pugazhendhi has expired yesterday.
