Case details
Suspending the advocates related to the murder case of an Advocate belongs to Uthamapalayam, Theni Dt.
The Uthamapalayam Advocates Association, Theni District has sent resolution requesting to take disciplinary action against the above mentioned three advocates.
The Inspector of Police, Uthamapalayam has also sent a report enclosing the FIR registered in Crime No.147/2020 U/s 147, 148, 149, 302, 120(B), 109 of IPC stating that one Mr. M.K. Selvendhiran, S/o. A.M. Karunanidhi, who is residing at No. 108, Kallar Palli Street, K.G. Patti (P.O.) Kambam, Theni District has lodged a complaint. The complainant alleged that they have entered into a Sale Deed with one Mrs. Rajagandham, W/o. Pandian, by sale consideration of Rs. 13,00,000/- (Rupees Thirteen Lakhs Only) for the Coconut Grove, which belongs to Mrs. Rajagandham. The next day itself, Mr. Vijayan, S/o. Mrs.Rajagandham, along with 10 other hooligans came to that place and started to attack them. In the above incident, they have sustained injury and Mr. M.K. Selvendhiran, lodged a police complaint on the file of Gudalur South Police Station and on the basis of the complaint, they have registered a case in Cr.No. 239/2019.
Further, it is alleged that Mr. Vijayan and his hooligans gave life threat to his family members on several occasion. Mr. Vijayan, gave a sum of Rs. 6 lakhs to Mr. R. Jeya Prabu, Mr. V. Mathan and Mr. S. Sokkar, Advocates, to do away the life of Mr. Ranjith Kumar, Advocate, Uthamapalayam. On 06.03.2020, at about 03.30 P.M., while Mr. Ranjith, Advocate, travelling to his home from the Court by his Two Wheeler, bearing Registration No. TN 57 E 0133, the above said three advocates along with hooligans hit the two wheeler with their car and assaulted the victim with deadly weapons and Mr. Ranjith Kumar died on the spot. On the basis of the complaint, Mr. R. Jeya Prabu and Mr. V. Mathan have been arrested and confined in judicial custody on 09.03.2020 and the investigation is pending. It is further stated that Mr. S. Sokkar, is not yet arrested and also informed that they will arrest him within short period and he is absconding and special team has been formed to secure him.
After the receipt of the same, the Bar Council has passed a resolution by circulation dated 18.03.2020 prohibiting the above said advocates from practicing as advocates in all Courts, Tribunals and other authorities in India either in their name or in any assumed name till the disposal of Disciplinary proceedings pending against them.
