- challenged the three-month ban imposed by the government for transport of minor minerals from TN to other states.
- #MadrasHighCourt Chief Justice’s Bench adjourns to August 20, 2026 a batch of cases filed by Confederation of Real Estate Associations of India (CREDAI)-Chennai chapter and other individual realtors challenging a ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on new constructions on 8,584.44 acres of land located within a distance of 1 km around the boundaries of Pallikaranai marsh land, a Ramsar site. Judges say they may set aside the blanket ban imposed by NGT but fear that it should not lead to mushrooming of constructions around the wetland. They direct Tamil Nadu State Wetland Authority to come up with some suggestions to balance the need to protect the environment and also allow infrastructure development. They want to know in which areas the construction ban could be imposed to protect the sources of water to the wetland and where the ban could be lifted as an interim measure until the final ‘zone of influence’ is determined. @THChennai Backgrounder👇 thehindu.com/news/national/…
