This writ petition has been filed seeking for the issuance
of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to get the
compensation amount for the acquisition of land belonging to the
temple for interlinking of river project and also to take steps for
installation of Moolavar Idol and conduct consecration in the
Arulmighu Vadakkuva Selvi Amman Temple, Kottailarungulam
Village, Thisayanvilai Taluk, Tirunelveli District.
2.It is the contention of the petitioner that the fourth
respondent, temple viz., Arulmigu Vadakkuva Selvi Amman
Thirukoil, Vadivammanpatti, Tirunelveli District, was administrated
by one Thakkar. As he indulged in malpractice, an enquiry was

or not and the Official is capable for taking charges at least before
the next date of hearing. Since the idol from the temple is said to
have been stolen, it is appropriate to suo motu implead the
Superintendent of Police, Idol Wing-CID, Thiru.Vi.Ka,
Industrial Estate, Guindy, Chennai-32, as 9th respondent in this
writ petition. The newly impleaded 9th respondent is directed to file
a report as to whether the idols of the temple or the properties of
the temple are stolen or not. The respondents shall assess the
damage caused to the temple land and the value of the minerals
exploited so far.
12.Under these circumstances, this Court directs the
Commissioner, HR&CE Department, Chennai, to appear
through Video Conferencing, before this Court, on 20.11.2020, at
2.15 p.m.
13.Notice to the private respondents through Speed Post,
Courier and e-mail as well as privately returnable by 20.11.2020.
The learned Special Government Pleader is also directed to inform
the respondents 7th and 8th through police, about the pendency of
this writ petition.
