The Madras High Court has made e-filing mandatory for anticipatory bail applications at both its principal bench and the Madurai bench starting February 7. A notification to that effect was issued by Registrar General M Jothiraman on Friday.

The Madras High Court has made e-filing mandatory for anticipatory bail applications at both its principal bench and the Madurai bench starting February 7.

A notification to that effect was issued by Registrar General M Jothiraman on Friday.

The notification said that to begin with, e filing would be compulsory for only for anticipatory bail applications.

The advocates or parties-in-persons in such cases will need to first create a user account on the e-filing portal.

Creation of the user account which will involve a verification process using a one time password that will be sent to the lawyer’s or the party-in-person’s mobile number and email address.

A detailed tutorial video and guidelines have been prepared by the High Court for the e-filing process and the user manual can be accessed through the official website of the High Court, the notification stated.

In case of any difficulty, advocates or party-in-person can also use the helpline number 14627 on all working days between 10:30 am and 3 pm or can approach the help desk counter at the principal seat.
