The book “Life, Law and Literature – Reflections of a Judge” by Madras HC judge N. Anand Venkatesh was released yesterday at Chennai Bar Council hall. Supreme Court judge M.M. Sundresh presided, noting the book should positively influence law students and stressing the need to consider why accused commit crimes.

விழாவுக்கு தலைமை வகித்து உச்ச நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி எம்.எம்.சுந்தரேஷ் பேசுகையில், ‘‘ கம்பராமாயணம் போன்ற சாகா வரம்பெற்ற நூல்கள் மொழி இருக்கும் வரை அழியாது. எந்த புத்தகமாக இருந்தாலும் அது படிப்பவர்களுக்கு நல்ல தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும். அந்த வகையில் இந்த புத்தகம் நிச்சயமாக இளம் சட்ட மாணவர்கள் மத்தியில் நேர்மறையான தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும். குற்றம் இழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு நீதி கிடைக்க வேண்டும். இதில் யாருக்கும் மாற்றுக்கருத்து இருக்க முடியாது. ஆனால் அங்கு தான் நாம் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டவர்களையும் சீர்தூக்கி பார்க்க மறந்து விடுகிறோம். எதற்காக, ஏன் இந்த காரியத்தை அவர்கள் செய்தார்கள் என்பதை ஆராய வேண்டும். பெரும்பாலான கு
