1. Ensure Immediate Safety

2. Provide Emotional First Aid

Call Childline 1098 immediately to trigger Child Welfare Committee (CWC) involvement

Inform the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) for assignment of a counsellor or social worker.

4. Arrange Initial Counselling

If distressed or showing trauma symptoms, request District Child Protection Unit psychologist, NGO counsellor, or hospital psychiatrist.

Ensure first counselling session before or soon after statement recording.

5. Record Statement Sensitively

Use child-friendly language.

Avoid showing the accused to the child.

Use video-recording or in-camera setting if possible.

Take one comprehensive statement to avoid repetition.

6. Apply for Protection & Support

If threat exists, apply under Witness Protection Scheme 2018 for safe accommodation or relocation.

If prolonged trauma expected, seek court direction for continued counselling during trial stage.

7. Document & Monitor

Record counselling referral details in GD.
