Clarification on News Reports Regarding Alleged auction of properties for Income Tax Dues of former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu State Dr. J.Jayalalitha.
I’m Mrs.J.Deepa niece of Dr.J.Jayalalitha. I’m issuing this official press release on my behalf for clarification of the news reports on the ongoing Income Tax Case of late.J.Jayalalitha Vs the Income Tax Department. Ms. Jayalalitha was the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu and supreme leader of the AIADMK . Therefore any matter in the press relating to her especially legal proceedings, which are being duly represented by myself J.Deepa and my brother J.Deepak that are factually incorrect or false and fabricated will be considered as insult and injury to our family reputation. Therefore I request news media to carry the news in detail with proper information from our legal representatives and with fact and accuracy.
This is to place on record my clarification with regard to the news circulated by News channels in Tamil media dated 05. O2.2026 stating that the alleged Income Tax dues of Late Selvi J. Jayalalithaa would be recovered through auctioning the properties of J.Jayalalitha is incorrect.
We as from the legal heirs are representing the cases that are sub judice for our paternal aunt and therefore such matters that are ongoing in the hon’ble Madras High Court have to be presented factually and not make sensational headlines during election times in Tamilnadu State.
This is not only a matter of insult and injury to the family and our rightful property but any news about Puratchi Thalaivi Amma that creates sensation will be viewed in favour of electoral politics that is ongoing in Tamilnadu at present.
The matter relating to the alleged Income Tax liability is currently sub judice before the Hon’ble Madras High Court. In the last hearing, the Hon’ble Court specifically directed the Income Tax Department to file a detailed statement of accounts along with the computation of the alleged tax dues.
As on date No final determination of tax liability has been made by the Income Tax Department. No quantified amount has been confirmed or communicated as payable.
Any assertion regarding recovery or attachment is premature and contrary to the judicial proceedings presently underway. It is further clarified that the Hon’ble Court has not passed any order, made any observation, or expressed any view that have been published by news channels.
On my behalf submissions were made before the Hon’ble Court by Dr. M. Sathya Kumar, Advocate, representing my interests. In view of the above, reporting that the dues will be recovered by auction of properties is incorrect, speculative, and violative of the settled principle that matters pending adjudication should not be presented as concluded facts. This could mislead court proceedings as the matter is pending adjudication.
In order to clarify and bring to the knowledge of the public that any legal matters relating to late.J.Jayalalitha that are under active consideration of the Hon’ble Court should not be presented without accurate facts that could mislead and give false impressions about former supremo of AIADMK to the people of Tamilnadu. I m issuing this clarity about the matter that is presently sub judice for this purpose.
From,
Mrs. J. Deepa Petitioner Through Counsel. M. Sathya Kumar, Advocate
