HC directs State to deposit entire sales amount of Tasmac shops in Dindigul district to the credit of land acquisition case
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the State governmet to deposit the entire sales amount of the Tasmac shops in Dindigul district every day to the credit of the Land Acquisition case on the file of the Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority / Principal District Judge, Dindigul, till further others, for not complying with the earlier order of the court.
The matter pertains to the lands acquired for the four laning and strengthening of Oddanchatram – Dharapuram – Tiruppur road. Lands were acquired in Dindigul districts. The land owners had filed petitions before the Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority seeking better compensation. The Authority enhanced the compensation amount to be paid to the land owners. The State preferred appeals against the orders passed by the Authority. The High Court had modified the order and directed the State to pay the amount to the land owners.
The State had submitted that it would likely file a Special Leave Petition against the judgement before the Supreme Court and sought time to comply with the order.

Aggrieved against the award passed by the District Court the State had filed the appeals. The court while disposing the appeals in March 2025 directed the appellants to deposit the reduced amount in eight weeks. The matter was listed for reporting compliance, the court observed.
Till today, the appellants neither complied with the order nor filed any Special Leave Petition, the court observed and passed the direction.
The High Court Registry was directed to serve the copy of the order to the Managing Director of Tasmac and Tasmac Dindigul District Manager.
