[15/07, 16:43] sekarreporter1: The All India Senior Advocates Association(AISAA) organised a felicitation ceremony in honour of the recent elevation of five Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court of India and one Hon’ble judge who retired from the Supreme Court at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. As President of the All India Senior Advocates Association, I had the honour of delivering the welcome address and felicitating Hon’ble Justice Pankaj Mithal, Hon’ble Justice Sheel Nagu, Hon’ble Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Hon’ble Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Hon’ble Justice Arun Palli, and Hon’ble Justice V. Mohana in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant. The presence of Hon’ble Justice Augustine George Masih and Hon’ble Justice P.B. Varale also graced the occasion. I commended the Hon’ble CJI for ordering a 30% reservation for women in the Bar Council through elections, which is a milestone in the legal profession. In my address, I highlighted the need to strengthen the administration of justice by supporting my legislative initiatives to raise the retirement age for Supreme Court judges from 65 to 70 years and for High Court judges from 62 to 65 years, as well as to establish regional benches of the Supreme Court. I also strongly condemned the increasing number of untoward incidents and objectionable conduct in courtrooms. I emphasised that the dignity and majesty of the judiciary are paramount.
Mr Adish Aggarwala, Secretary General, delivered the welcome address.
Mr Vivek Tanka, MP and Vice President of AISAA, @VTankha, delivered the vote of thanks.
My sincere gratitude to all the Hon’ble Judges and to every member of the All India Senior Advocates Association for gracing the occasion and making the event a grand success, especially to Mr Adish Aggarwala, Secretary General AISAA, who organised this great event.
