*Symposium & Scientific Forum in Commemoration of World Micro-organisms Day*

The Department of Microbiology, Government Siddha Medical College, Chennai, organized a prestigious symposium and scientific forum titled **“Divine Microbes 2025”** on **17th September 2025** at **Thirumoolar Hall, GSMC, Chennai**, to mark the observance of **World Micro-organisms Day**. The event brought together academicians, researchers, faculty, and students to celebrate and discuss the significance of microbes in science, medicine, and human welfare.

The program commenced with an enthusiastic gathering of participants and dignitaries. The event was graced by eminent personalities. **Tmt. M. Vijayalakshmi, IAS, Commissioner, Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy Department**, and **Dr. M. Manavalan, Joint Director, Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy Department**, honored the forum with their esteemed presence.

Due to Health issues, the honorable **Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. S.P. Thyagarajan, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., Former Vice Chancellor, University of Madras**, could not be able to make his presence on the event but still his video lecture enlightened the audience with his insights into the ever-expanding role of microorganisms in medicine and research. His address emphasized the need for innovative exploration in microbiology and the impact of microbes on human health and the environment.

Adding to the prestige of the event, **Dr. Thyagarajan Ravinder, M.D., Professor & Head, Department of Microbiology, Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai**, and **Dr. G. Bharathkumar, M.D.(S), Ph.D., Deputy Controller of Examinations, TN Dr. M.G.R. University, Chennai**, attended as **Guests of Honour**. Their participation enriched the scientific discussions and motivated students toward deeper engagement in the field of microbiology.

The event was meticulously organized under the guidance of **Prof. Dr. Ganesan, Principal, GSMC, Chennai**, who acted as the Patron, and **Dr. R. Suresh Kumar, Head, Department of Microbiology, GSMC, Chennai**, the Organizing Chairperson. The execution and coordination were effectively carried out by the **Mayuram Students**(First proffessional year students), who ensured the smooth conduct of the day’s proceedings.

The symposium included interactive scientific sessions, knowledge-sharing platforms, and thought-provoking discussions that emphasized the essential role of microorganisms in sustaining life and advancing medical sciences. Participants were encouraged to engage in research and innovation to harness the power of microbes for the benefit of society.

In the middle of the event, Students received prize distribution for various competitions like elequence, poster making, connections, Dumbcharads, which was conducted on 16th September 2025.

The event concluded at 5PM leaving a lasting impact on all attendees. **Divine Microbes 2025** was not only a commemoration of World Micro-organisms Day but also a celebration of scientific spirit, unity, and commitment to advancing microbiological research within the Siddha medical system and also showed a glimpse of integration of modern medicine along with siddha or traditional medicine of india.
It was an eye opening session on the good bacteria also the gut bacteria which helps the human body to sustain in any kind of environment
