Designated as a Senior Advocate by the Madras High Court, P.V. Balasubramaniam practices across the full range of the Court’s jurisdiction constitutional and public law, writ matters, criminal proceedings, civil suits, commercial disputes and arbitration, tax and service matters, intellectual property, and religious and charitable endowments law.

A graduate of the Madras Law College, Balasubramaniam has over twenty-eight years of standing at the Bar and has practiced before the Original and Appellate Sides of the Madras High Court, including the Madurai Bench, and before the Supreme Court of India. His constitutional and public law practice encompasses writ jurisdiction across a wide range of subjects challenges to administrative and executive action, statutory interpretation, and fundamental rights with a substantial body of reported judgments to his name..

His criminal practice before the Madras High Court covers a wide range of criminal matters concerning various penal laws including special statutes such as the PMLA. On the civil and commercial side, he handles Original Side suits, domestic and international arbitrations, insolvency and companies law, and intellectual property disputes. His tax practice spans direct and indirect taxation before the High Court and Tribunals; he is equally active in service and labour matters, and represents. National and State level Sporting Federations.

He is trained Mediator empanelled with the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of the Madras High Court since its Inception, a regular contributor to the World Bank’s Doing Business research programme since 2010, and serves on the CII Southern Region Task Force on Ease of Doing Business.
