The Income Tax department on Monday informed the #MadrasHighCourt of having issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for verifying the election affidavits filed by candidates after the conclusion of the polls. It made the submission in response to a case alleging material discrepancies in the assets declared by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. The judges adjourned this case to June 17. A similar case filed against TVK president C. Joseph Vijay was adjourned to June 3 and the case against BJP former State president Tamilisai Soundararajan was adjourned to June 17. The cases filed against TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna, AIADMK Tiruvallur constituency candidate B.V. Ramana and Madurai Central constituency candidate Sundar C., were dismissed.
