[11/03, 13:25] sekarreporter1: The Tamil Nadu government filed its status report in the SLP (Jawahar Navodaya school matter) regarding the meeting held with the Union government, pursuant to the Supreme Court’s directives. The Tamil Nadu government raised the issue of a pending amount of Rs 3,548.22 crores in the said meeting with the Union Education Secretary. The state also opposed the introduction of the 3-language formula, including Hindi, through Jawahar Navodaya schools in Tamil Nadu, as it is opposed to the State’s Act and the State’s bilingual educational policy.
The SLP was listed today, and the Supreme Court adjourned it to July in view of the hearing of part-heard matters. When the respondent requested an early hearing, the Supreme Court refused to treat it as an urgent case.
