Sc order in TN Minister Durai Murugan seeking stay on trial proceedings in a disproportionate assets case from 1996

[01/04, 13:46] sekarreporter1: Supreme Court hears plea by TN Minister Durai Murugan seeking stay on trial proceedings in a disproportionate assets case from 1996

Bench: Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan
[01/04, 13:47] sekarreporter1: Sr. Adv. Abhishek Manu Singhvi appears for Murugan: three matters identical orders have been passed. he is an 86 year old man, there is the same identical issue in 3 matters. The issue is, when you are a minister governor has to give (sanction) and when you are an MLA speaker has to give. If the check period is following both periods, then both have to give. That is pending. Here speaker has granted. No governor. That’s exactly the issue in the other two cases. Today I am only asking for tagging.

Court: what about the delay? Issue notice in the petition as well as the application for condonation of delay.

Singhvi: I am 87 years old, I suffered from a hip fracture. Your lordships may take a humane view of this. Please give a stay on the trial.
[01/04, 13:47] sekarreporter1: Court: no further steps to be taken in CC 1/2004 until further orders. List on 20th April.
