ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by M.S.Ramesh,J.)
Mr.J.Ravindran, learned Additional Advocate General, has produced the status reports filed by the District Collectors of Madurai, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Virudunagar Districts before us today.
2.In the status report filed by the District Collector of Madurai, we find that among the 674 items of properties, 8 items found between Serial Nos.666 and 674 are yet to be surveyed. Hence, the status report of the District Collector of Madurai can only be termed to be an interim report.
3.The learned Additional Advocate General also submitted that the District Collectors of
Myladuthurai, Namakkal, Nagapattinam and Pudukottai are yet to file their status reports.
4.By way of extending one last opportunity, these 4 District Collectors shall file their status report by 19.09.2025 positively, failing which the said District Collectors shall be physically present before this Court and render their explanation as to why they are not in a position to comply with the earlier order passed by this Court. It would be relevant to mention that whichever Districts have vast number of properties, the respective District Collectors were required to file their interim reports. Even such interim reports have not been filed by these 4 District Collectors.
5.As already recorded by us, since the status report of the District Collector of Madurai is incomplete, the surveys shall be conducted, as expeditiously as possible, for the remaining extent of lands and the report shall reach this Court by 19.09.2025.
6.Call the matter on 19.09.2025 at 02.30 P.M.
