‘Mediation For Nation’ Campaign from 1st July, 2025 to 30th September, 2025 to settle pending cases across Nation.

·        A 90-day nationwide campaign titled ‘Mediation For Nation’ had started its journey on 1st July, 2025 and continued till 30th September, 2025, aiming to resolve pending cases in High Court, District Courts and Taluk Courts through mediation.

·        Conceptualized under the guidance of Hon’ble Mr.Justice B.R.Gavai, Chief Justice of India and Hon’ble Mr.Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India, the initiative is jointly led by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC).

·        Consequent upon the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, the matter was placed before the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Madras High Court and the Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Mediation and Conciliation Committee (TNMCC) and steps were taken for the 90-day Mediation Drive with more vigor to make it a grand success.

·        In order to create awareness among the Litigant Public about the campaign, a rally was conducted by the TNMCC in co-ordination with the District Mediation Centre on 14.07.2025 (Monday) at 10.45 am inside the High Court Campus, headed by Mr.K.Balasubramanian, Director, TNMCC. The mediators of TNMCC and District Mediation Centre participated in the said rally holding placards and mediation awareness banners and distributed awareness pamphlets to the litigants and Advocates and also explained about the said campaign. So also, mediation awareness rally was conducted by the District Mediation Centers throughout the State and U.T. of Puducherry by distributing pamphlets to the litigants and advocates explaining the special drive programme.

·        All matters having elements of settlement which includes matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence cases, cheque bounce cases, commercial disputes, service matters, criminal compoundable cases, consumer disputes, debt recovery cases, partition cases, eviction cases, land acquisition cases and other suitable civil cases, were referred to Mediation.

·        High Court, District Courts and Taluk Courts identified suitable cases from their database and listed the eligible matters under the caption For Referral to Mediation under the Special Mediation Drive – Mediation ‘For the Nation’ from 1st July, 2025 to 31st July, 2025.

·        Option for process of mediation was given as Physical Mode or Online Mode or Hybrid Mode. Taluks and District Legal Services Authorities were requested to facilitate online mediation.

·        Strenuous efforts were taken to inform the Mediators, Advocates and the Parties over phone about the listing of the matters before Mediation.

·        As per the directions of MCPC, weekly reports of settled cases were received from the Centres, compiled and forwarded to the MCPC of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India then and there.  As such, final data was forwarded to MCPC on 06.10.2025.

·        Totally, 25,584 cases were referred to Mediation during the Special Mediation Drive period and settlements were arrived at between the parties in respect of 1,361 cases.

·        This is yet another movement in reaching the historical milestone in the matter of settling the disputes between the parties before the Mediation.
