[24/03, 14:48] sekarreporter1: Justices P. Velmurugan and M. Jothiraman of #MadrasHighCourt dismiss a habeas corpus petition filed by Savukku Shankar’s mother against his solitary confinement during his incarceration during December 2025. The judges also dispose of a writ petition filed by her seeking medical treatment for him during his incarceration. It was in these two cases, the court had granted him interim bail. In view of the diposal of the two main cases, the interim orders fade into insignificance. The Bench also dismisses Savukku Shankar’s review plea to revise the interim bail conditions imposed on him. When Additional Public Prosecutor R. Muniyapparaj says he has to surrender on March 25, 2026 on expiry of the interim bail, Justice Velmurugan say it is for the police to take steps if he does not surrender after the expiry of the interim bail. The court need not make any observations regarding interim bail when the main cases have been disposed of, he adds. @THChennai Backgrounder👇
