Justice N. Anand Venkatesh of #MadrasHighCourt dismisses an election petition filed against the victory of Coimbatore South MLA V. Senthilbalaji since the petitioner K. Prakasam was neither a contestant nor a voter of that constituency. Judge says, Section 81 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 does not permit any elector to challenge the election in any constituency. If everyone is allowed to challenge the election of any legislator, it will lead to opening up a pandora’s box and numerous election petitions will get filed after every election, he adds. @THChennai
