Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan of #MadrasHighCourt permits Arappor Iyakkam to get impleaded in a petition filed by by former DMK Minister E.V. Velu to quash a FIR registered against by him by the DVAC in connection with the alleged misuse of public money in laying roads under the State highways department. The judge adjourns the hearing on the quash plea to August 14, 2026 since State Public Prosecutor R. John Sathyan sought time to file a counter affidavit. Judge says police can proceed with the investigation and summon Mr. Velu for inquiry but the interim order restraining the police from taking coercive action against him shall continue till the next date of hearing.
