#MadrasHighCourt Chief Justice’s Bench reserves orders on a plea for a CBI probe into alleged corrupt practices involved in the act of four AIADMK MLAs submitting their resignations to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar and joining the TVK within minutes thereafter. Advocate B. Ramkumar Adityan of Tiruchendur had filed the writ petition. When the Chief Justice asked what is the prima facie material available to suspect corrupt practice behind the resignations, the petitioner’s counsel replied that as an individual, his client could not collect materials and that is why he is seeking a CBI probe. Not in agreement with such a submission, the CJ said, the petitioner must submit some basic materials before the court to suspect foul play. He also said, the Speaker was entitled to initiate disqualification proceedings against the individuals concerned under Schedule X to the Constitution and that a CBI probe cannot be ordered at the drop of a hat. @THChennai Backgrounder 👇
