[26/11, 15:24] B. JAGANNATH Advt: Contempt Petition 1334 of 2022 was listed before the Honourable Chief Justice Bench of the Madras High Court today. The matter pertains to removal of encroachment in temple lands belonging to Arulmigu Kandaswamy Thiruporur and Alavandar Charities Trust (Established by Ayiram Kani Alavandar Naicker). Status report filed by Alavandar Charities revealed that a mosque/Dargah encroached temple lands and consequently proceedings are pending before the Wakf Tribunal and Joint Commissioner of Hr and Ce Department for removal of encroachment. The group of encroachers represented by Advocate Senthil sought to seek leave to implead in the main case after 2 years. The said representation and request made by the Advocate to seek leave had been rejected and negated by the Honourable First Bench and accordingly the Bench directed the said person to approach, Hr and Ce in accordance with law as appropriate remedy is available as per the Act. Consequent to the above, B. Jagannath, Party in Person, Advocate at the Madras High Court argued that Thiruporur temple encroachment alone is beyond 400 Acres which is yet to be removed. SGP Arun replied that In certain cases 78 proceedings are pending. Upon hearing the detailed arguments of the Learned Counsel for Hr and Ce SGP Arun Natrajan and Party in Person Advocate B. Jagannath, matter was adjourned to 10.12.2024. [26/11, 15:26] sekarreporter1: 👍
