Dr.Chelliah, learned Senior Counsel appearing as party-in-person states that no
action whatsoever has been taken by the respondents in regard to the directions issued
by us in our order dated 16.06.2020 and requests that he be permitted to file an
affidavit in this regard. Such affidavit will be filed by end of business today by e-mail
after service upon other learned counsel. Registry will forward the affidavit once
received, to the Bench.
2. Learned counsel appearing for the Bar Council of India (BCI) as well as Bar
Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (BCTN&P) for their part, do not dispute that
they have not taken any action pursuant to our earlier order as yet and cite the
national and State lockdowns for their inaction.
3. The BCI and BCTN&P are directed to file their audited financial
statements/complete financials for the periods ending 31.03.2019 and 31.03.2020
(2018-2019 and 2019-2020), containing details of (i) income and expenditure/profit
and loss (ii) balance sheet, (iii) bank accounts and balances thereof and (iv) fixed
deposits, within a period of three (3) weeks from today after service on the other
learned counsel.
