The Bail application filed by Hemanth the husband of TV serial actress Chitra in a case of cheating by taking Rs. One Crores to secure a MBBS Medical seat came up for hearing before his Lordship Mr Justice V. Bharathidasan.The petitioner is A1 and the other accused is Chitti Sundar, son of a police officer. Ms. M Prabhavathi Addl. Public Prosecutor appearing for the State represented that the petitioner has two cases of such cheating and had volunteered to settle and repay the victims. The accused haspaid Rupees ten lakhs towards part payment in settling the money and takes time for making the remaining payment while the case was under investigation. Thereafter the petitioner filed for anticipatory bail which got dismissed. Thereafter the petitioner was arrested and was in judicial custody despite bail being granted in one case, as the other case was pending and the petitioner was taken into custody in both the cases. The present petition came up today and the court has directed the petitioner to deposit Rupees fifteen lakhs within 3 weeks and granted bail.
