Hon’ble Mr. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Senior most Judge of Supreme Court of India/the Hon’ble Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has directed to conduct National Lok Adalats on 10.4.2021, on 10.7.2021, on 11.9.2021 and on 11.12.2021 this year.
As per the guidance of His Lordship, the Hon’ble the Chief Justice, High Court, Madras/Patron-in-Chief of TNSLSA and as ordered by His Lordship/Hon’ble MR. Justice M. Duraiswamy, Senior most Judge, High Court, Madras/Executive Chairman of TNSLSA, this Authority had directed all the Legal Services Institutions across the State to hold National Lok Adalat today i.e. 11.9.2021 (Saturday) in all the Courts in the State of Tamil Nadu.
As per the directions of the Hon’ble Mr., Justice T. Raja, Judge, High Court of Madras/ Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committe has constituted 3 benches at the Principal seat of High Court, Madras consisting of Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. Thanigachalam, Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. Malai Subramaniam, Hon’ble Justice G. Chokalingam Retired Judges of High Court, Madras and at Madurai Bench had constituted 2 benches consisting of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice S. Anandi, Hon’ble Mr. Justice K. Murali Shankar Judges of High Court, Madras, as presiding Judges of Lok Adalats.

In the District Legal Services Authorities and Taluk Legal Services Committees across the State, 380 benches were constituted and cases disposed off as detailed below.

Major cases and award amount:
1. Cheque dishonoured cases numbering 1,464 have been settled among the parties by negotiation and the award for the value of Rs. 57,99,02,111/- have been distributed.
2. Motor Accident Compensation cases numbering 2,479 with regard to accident claims have been settled and the award amount of Rs. 97,88,38,531/- has been distributed to the parties. 2,479
3. Civil cases numbering 4436 have been settled among the parties for the award amount of Rs. 73,56,96,859/-
4. In Matrimonial disputes (except Divorce), parties were called for negotiation and 139 cases have been amicably settled.
5. Labour disputes numbering 87 cases have been settled and the award amount of Rs. 4,76,68,260/- have been distributed to the parties.
6. 223 number of cases of 5 years and above old cases have also been settled.
