SITTING ARRANGEMENT – PARTIAL MODIFICATION The following modifications are effected in the Sitting Arrangement which commence from 04.01.2020 in the Principal Seat at Madras and in the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court at Madurai:

The following modifications are effected in the Sitting Arrangement which commence from
04.01.2020 in the Principal Seat at Madras and in the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court at
Madurai:
Principal Seat at Madras:
I. Hon’ble Division Bench presided over by Hon’ble Mr.Justice R.Subbiah is provided with
Civil Miscellaneous Appeals arising from Motor Accident Claims Tribunals, Commercial
Appellate Division Appeals from Commercial Division of High Court relating to
Admiralty, Arbitration and Intellectual Property matters, Cases relating to Commercial
Appellate Division having value above 500 Crores, Writ Appeals relating to Service
against Final orders passed by the learned Single Judge (of the year 2019), Writ Appeals
against Interlocutory/Interim Orders passed by the learned Single Bench (other than
Tax matters) (upto the year 2018).
II. Hon’ble Division Bench consisting of Hon’ble Mr.Justice M.Duraiswamy and Hon’ble
Mrs.Justice T.V.Thamilselvi is constituted to hear Tax cases arising from Direct Tax
Laws (like Income Tax Act, Wealth Tax Act) – upto the year 2017.
III. Hon’ble Division Bench consisting of Hon’ble Mr.Justice T.Raja and Hon’ble Mr.Justice
G.Chandrasekharan is constituted to hear First Appeals and Second Appeals to be
heard by a Division Bench, Special Tribunal Appeals and Civil Miscellaneous Appeals
arising from Family Courts.
IIIa. Whenever Hon’ble Division Bench is not sitting, Hon’ble Mr.Justice G.Chandrasekharan
is provided Single Sitting to hear old Criminal Appeals, from the Provisional List.
IV. Hon’ble Mr.Justice T.Ravindran is provided with Second Appeals (from the year 2012 to
2016) in addition His Lordship’s existing arrangement.
V. Hon’ble Mr.Justice A.D.Jagadish Chandira is provided with Criminal Appeals (including
Appeals relating to Crime against women and Children) and Criminal Revision – from
the year 2011 to 2018 in addition to His Lordship’s existing arrangement.
