Re-opening of Kerala High Court amid Lockdown: Hearings to be at forenoon, fresh filings to be in the afternoon [Read Notification]

The High Court has been sitting at full strength since Monday. Whereas some single judges are hearing cases through video conferencing, other Benches have been conducting physical hearings.Bar & Bench

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued a notification intimating, inter alia, that court hearings would be at forenoon.

The Court had officially re-opened on Monday following the mid-summer break.

On Tuesday, the Court notified the modification of certain arrangements amid its present functioning, including on the time for hearings and filings. The notification initimates:

  • Final Hearing cases will be listed and heard on furnishing consent information by all Counsel appearing for the parties in a case. As far as possible, a specific date should be mentioned. The request will be placed before the concerned Judge for listing.
  • Matters that have become infructuous/ or which may become infructuous matters be reported by the learned Counsel and the same will be placed before the concerned Judge.
  • Fresh filings will have to be done in the afternoon session, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, and the list will be published for the second next day.
  • Hearings will be in the forenoon session.

It was notified last Friday that the High Court would function at full strength from Monday onwards. Whereas some single benches have been hearing matters via Video Conferencing, other benches are sitting physically at the High Court while adopting social distancing and allied measures to guard against the spread of COVID-19.Also ReadKerala HC to sit at full strength
