Sub: Request to ensure the safety of the Practicing Advocates – Reg.

The Bar Council has shocked to hear the sad news about the brutal murder of one Mr. Azhagarasan, Advocate, Karal, Kancheepuram, who was actively practicing in the Courts of Chennai and Kancheepuram. He is a young lawyer with a small kid. The family has been visited with the untimely death due to the murderous attack by certain persons. The Bar Council requests your goodself to take immediate steps in this regard and issue appropriate directions to the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) to nab the culprits immediately by forming special teams and detain them under Act 14/82 as a Goonda and to take earnest steps to file charge sheet within a stipulated time in order to secure justice to the family of the deceased. We request you to provide adequate security to the family of the deceased as a threat perception seems to continue.

The Bar Council has come to know that in recent times, several practicing advocates are being attacked, assaulted and even murdered thereby causing grave threat to their security and free movement of the Practicing Advocates. We request the Director General of Police to issue appropriate instructions to all the Police authorities in Tamilnadu to ensure safety of the actively practicing Advocates, who are facing threats to their personal safety in discharging their professional duties.
