Mr.P.H.Aravindh Pandian, the learned Additional Advocate General has submitted that he could not convene a meeting with the concerned Officials on account of bereavement in his family and therefore, he seeks four weeks' time to file his status report. 2. He has assured this Court that he will give necessary instructions to the HR&CE and other Departments to inspect places of worship, like Temple, Church, Mosque, etc., and warn shop owners of those religious premises not to use plastics of any kind to sell worshiping items and advise them to make use of alternate materials. He has further assured that he will also ensure that in the event of granting permission to conduct any sports event, dharna, protest, etc., Police Authorities incorporate a condition with regard to avoidance of plastic bags, paper cups and plastic bottles, etc., thereon. 3. At the request of the learned Additional Advocate General, list these matters on 03.03.2020. In the meanwhile, the HR&CE Department shall issue a Circular to all the Temple Authorities to inform the devotees (by way of exhibiting it in the Notice Board and conspicuous places, more particularly at the entrance of the place of worship) not to carry any plastic bags inside the Temple. Similar instructions may be placed in front of Churches, Mosques, Dargahs etc. Shops selling offerings in places of worship should be instructed about using the traditional storage materials like baskets, paper bags, jute bags, plantain or other leaves.
