My Lord,
Sub: Request to take preventive measures regarding
COVID-19 in the High Court and Subordinate Court

premises all over Tamilnadu and Puducherry – Reg.

There is a global outbreak of Corona Virus and India is also facing the attack of the virus in various parts of the country. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Department has also given some advices in this regard to the people as well as the organisations including Courts about the measures to be taken to prevent the spreading of the virus. In the Court campuses also several advocates are gathering and they are attending the courts.
Therefore, the Court halls are over crowded not only by the advocates but also by the presence of the parties in the High Court as well as the Subordinate Courts. Considering the above aspect, the Hon’ble Supreme Court and some of the High Courts have also taken preventive measures and hearing urgent matters only.

We bring to your Lordship’s notice that Subordinate Courts all over Tamilnadu and Puducherry are also over crowded, since the large number of advocates as well as the litigant public are attending the cases. Therefore, we request your Lordship to issue suitable circular to the subordinate courts to hear urgent matters only and other matters can be postponed.
Even for attending urgent matters, issue suitable direction to the Government to thermally screen all persons even before entering into the Court halls and sanitizers will be placed in the Court campus.

Therefore, I request your Lordship to take preventive measures in this regard and protect the Judicial Officers, Advocates, Staffs and public, who are all coming to the High Court and Subordinate Courts all over Tamilnadu and Puducherry, by passing suitable orders.
