Your question ‘why Adhoc Judges?’
Supreme Court in a case observed that process of appointing judges takes long time and heavily cases are pending in the High Courts and requires High Court to appoint adhoc judges. It is suggested recently retired judges and in exceptional cases others to be nominated as Adhoc Judges.
I understand in continuation Supreme Court now called for a list from many High Courts.
Even if list is sent how seriously Govt will act is a question and Supreme Court has to pressurise for quick appointment.
Even advocates from the Bar can be appointed as Adhoc Judges. Infact after the period they can practice in the same High Court.
Hence Bar Association may insist for advocates to be appointed as Adhoc Judges.
