I would like to request you to defer court proceedings upto the 31st of May, 2020. ,S.K.Vel,Chairman,Federation of Bar associations of Tamil Nadu &

20th April,2020,Namakkal

Respected & Honorable Registrar General,Madras High Court,Chennai.
In light of your circular (R.O.C.NO.23991-C/2020/C3) addressed to the Courts and Judges for the effective functioning of sub-ordinate court proceedings from the May 1st, 2020, I would like to request you to defer court proceedings upto the 31st of May, 2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused widespread distress to the people worldwide and governments are taking serious steps to tackle the spread. The situation is even more alarming as no concrete cure has been introduced so far and best practices such as social distancing and personal hygiene are the steps to tackle the spread.
As the voice of the bar association of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, I have drafted a mail dated 7th April,2020 to bring the concern of the advocate fraternity to the Hon’ble Registrar General’s notice.
In the case of emergency cases alone, the proceedings could be done uninterrupted through video conferencing as this provision has been enabled for the High Courts.
Therefore I would like to request the Hon’ble Registrar General to defer court proceedings upto 31st May, when situations will hopefully get better.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,S.K.Vel,Chairman,Federation of Bar associations of Tamil Nadu & PondicherryPh : +91 – 6380418157
