Today the suit came up for admission before Hon’ble Mr. Justice C.V. Karthikeyan of the Madras High Court.

Mr. P. Wilson, Senior Advocate appeared for the Plaintiff and argued that the Defendant is habitually defaming the plaintiff by tweets on social media & interviews. The defendant is not engaging in any constructive criticism or political opposition but is only defaming through vexatious & slanderous allegations without any basis. No material evidence has been disclosed for his defamation campaign in the last 6 months. In fact even when a legal notice was issued to cease and desist, instead of giving an explanation/ justification for his accusations, he tweeted about the notice with further false and defamatory statement. Mr. Wilson argued that this harmed the reputation of the plaintiff which is very important for a politician. Thus he prayed for interim injunction.

Recording that the plaintiff has made out a prima facie case, the Hon’ble Court ordered notice & granted interim injunction restraining Mr. CTR Nirmal Kumar from making defamatory tweets statements interviews etc against the Plaintiff till the next date of hearing.
