CHAPTER – I
PRELIMINARY

force

Applicability All the criminal Courts within the jurisdiction
of the High Court of Judicature at Madras.
4 Sitting Hours Fixed by High Court.
No Judicial Work on Sunday, except
Remand, grant of bail in bailable offence and
other work specified by the High Court
No judicial order in chamber, except in
camera proceedings

MAGISTRATE COURTS
INVESTIGATION AND REMAND
5 First Information
Report and
Occurrence Report
The Judges shall affix their full signature on
each page, record the date and time of receipt
on the first page and record their name and
designation.
The name or the number of the messenger
shall also be noted.
If it is received by post, the envelope shall be
initialled and preserved.
All other records The Judges shall put their initial on every
page with date.
F.I.R. shall be entered in No.18 F.I.R. Register
immediately in consecutive numbers police
station-wise without any gap and maintained
annually.
If it is received after the court hours or on
holidays should be entered first in the register
on the next working day.
It shall be brought forward in the register of the
succeeding year.
6(1) Remand The accused shall be physically produced for
first remand
The Judge shall see if there is any injury on the
accused.
