[3/18, 12:03] Sekarreporter 1: Sir இவர் என்ன கூறுகிறார. சரியா தவறா
[3/18, 12:16] K. Chandru Former Judge Of Highcourt: முற்றிலும் சரி….!
[3/18, 14:52] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: Isn’t there a difference between nomination and election ? The president has NOMINATED Mr. justice Gogoi. He has not been elected. Nomination to Rajya Sabha from amongst lawyers and judges has been practiced for decades.
Alladi, M.C. Setalvad , C.K. Daftary, Fali Sam Nariman etc have all been nominated. The list is long and distinguished.

[3/18, 14:53] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: The names I have mentioned will shudder to think they were so nominated because of “political” affiliations.
[3/18, 14:58] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: As for Mr. Datar ‘s view that in regard to UK and USA. Let me beg to disagree.
The executive doesn’t meet the judiciary is a misnomer. How come those who speak about this don’t object to the CJ’s and PM’s meet year on year.
Let us not forget for over 500 years , the lord chancellor (head of the judiciary in the UK) was a part of the cabinet.
As for the US, politicians have been judges and vice versa. To give a few examples
John jay resigned as CJ to get back to politics
Taft became a CJ after being the president.
Earl warren had been a governor
William O Douglas was an active politician till his elevation
Hugo L black was a member of White supremacy KLu Klux Klan
[3/18, 15:00] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: Krishna Iyer was a member of the political party. All of us know if judges who were a part of RSS, DMK, AIADMK and of course the left parties. Were they disqualified to be members of the judiciary ? Or rejoining their former political colleagues after retirement ?
[3/18, 15:03] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: I did read a few weeks back about justice Chandru saying there is nothing wrong in judges being appointed as commission members as there is no constitutional bar. Where does he see the constitutional bar of a retired CJI becoming a member of Rajya Sabha as a nominated member ?
[3/18, 15:05] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: To add , one of the finest judges India has produced – Justixe K.S. Hegde was ELECTED to the Rajya Sabha on a congress ticket like CJI Misra. After resigning from office of Judge of SC, he stood for election with support of Janata Party , won the election and became a speaker of the Lok Sabha. Have we also forgotten Late and lamented Hidayatullah the Vice President of India ?
My humble view principles should not change with personalities.
[3/18, 15:25] Sekarreporter 1: [3/18, 15:23] K. Chandru Former Judge Of Highcourt: Mr.V.L.R,in your anxiety to group a huge number of people you also included justice VR.krishna Iyer as belonging to a political party. For your information he did not join any political party and remained as an independant member!

[3/18, 15:33] Sekarreporter 1: [3/18, 15:29] K. Chandru Former Judge Of Highcourt: People who speak volumes of ethics in public suddenly become apologists for ruling governments.whether it was practice adopted earlier or now it is improper. When Ranganath Misra was nominated we had opposed it.Two wrongs will not make it a right.your comparision of lawyers getting nominated makes your logic laughable!!Further CJI &PM meetings are routine and necessary since the govt is holding the strings of the purse!!

[3/18, 15:33] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: Dear sekar ji, it is the exclusive right of the President of India to nominate and the individual right of the Judge to accept. unless there is a constitutional bar, there is nothing wrong in his accepting the post
[3/18, 15:36] Sekarreporter 1: [3/18, 15:34] Thirumaran Sgp Mhc: VLR also Served as minister in the Kerala government subject to correction

[3/18, 15:34] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: principles do vary with personalities KCJ. it does vary
[3/18, 15:35] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: speak for yourself as apologists. as a judge you struck down the report of Justice Mohan but retirement you did not find anything wrong with judges becoming part of commissions as there was no constitutional bar. applying your logic, where is the bar for a cji in being nominated.
[3/18, 15:36] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: my opinions are my opinions. whether you find it laughable or not. what you find serious, a lot of persons have found it laughable. one man’s food is another man’s poison
[3/18, 15:36] lashminarayanan Advt Mhc: yes brother. he was the minister for law, justice, home, irrigation, power, prisons, social welfare and inland navigation

[3/18, 15:33] Srimathi Advt Mhc: political agenda can very conveniently set an agenda. is it the first time ever that a Judge has been nominated ?
[3/18, 15:38] Sekarreporter 1: [3/18, 15:38] Srimathi Advt Mhc: why gogois presence In Parliament Will Be An Opportunity To Project Views Of The Judiciary Before The Legislature

[3/18, 15:47] Sekarreporter 1: [3/18, 15:46] Srimathi Advt Mhc: wbag is this hullabaloo that Judicial dignity has been slaughtered blah blahs what happened when Judges of High court and Supreme court were elected to Lok Sabha/Rajya sabha on party symbol. starting from Justice Ranganath Mishra – Congress from Orissa, Justice Bahrul Islam again Congress from Assam or take Justice KS Hegde Janta party,Karnataka or Justice Abhay Thpsey – Congress ,Maharastra Why is it that those that are venting their spleen now were loud by their silence then. Why even lately when a Judge Ex of MHC ingratiated himself to the RSS only to turn around and say he did not know that it was a party membership drive. Come on we will change our goalposts as we think fit ?! is it not
