Dhanalakshmi Sriidhar filed 482 petition to quash the complaint filed against her stating that since the proceedings against her father abetted after his demise and the properties purchased by her father in her name cannot vitiate criminal proceedings by ED against her and hence quash petition. The Hon’ble Division Bench dismissed her petition by observing that the onus is on the accused under Sec 24 of Pmla to prove such proceeds of crime are not involved in money laundering.

Sridhar Dhanapal is a Kancheepuram Don against whom 26 criminal cases of serious nature were filed by the state police in scheduled offences.Enforcement Directorate filed a complaint before the Special court in which his daughter Dhanalakshmi Sridhar is arrayed as one of the accused . Her father “Kancheepuram Don “ purchased several properties out of his criminal activities in the name of several persons including his daughter .ED attached Sriidhar Dhanapal properties and also the properties purchased in the name of his wife & daughter.Sridhar Dhanapal died on 4.10.2017 during proceedings before Special court.Hence Dhanalakshmi Sriidhar filed 482 petition to quash the complaint filed against her stating that since the proceedings against her father abetted after his demise and the properties purchased by her father in her name cannot vitiate criminal proceedings by ED against her and hence quash petition.
